One great way to get exposure for your new blog is to add a custom email signature with photo at the end of every email that you write. This is how to do it and what you should include.

Every single email that you send is an opportunity to give people information about you and your business.

Every. Single. One.

Yet, it amazes me that most people don’t take advantage of this opportunity for FREE advertising that you can use every single day.

How to Create a Custom Email Signature With Photo in Gmail

Most email services – even the free ones, like Gmail, have tools you can use to create a custom email signature with photo.

I will walk you through the ones in Gmail, because that is what I use – but if you use something else, just dig around in the settings to see what you can find. (I know both Apple Mail and Outlook have tools for this too).

  1. Click on the gear icon (settings) in the upper right hand corner of your Gmail screen.
  2. Click on the “General” option in the menu bar across the top and scroll down until you see the “Signature” box settings.
  3. Use the editor to add your photo and any other info you would like to include in your email signature.

10 Things that You Can Include In Your Email Signature

  1. Your full name and title
  2. Your Photo
  3. The name of your business
  4. Your phone number
  5. Your email address
  6. Your blog URL
  7. Your tagline
  8. Links to your social media profiles
  9. A subscribe link to your newsletter
  10. Your latest post

Use a Third Party Service to Create Your Signature

You can also use a service like Wisestamp that makes creating a custom email signature with photo even easier and will even pull a link to your latest blog post into your signature.

I bought a lifetime deal on Wisestamp at AppSumo many years ago and really like it.

With Wisestamp I can add elements of my branding – such as my blog colors as well.

Why You Should NOT Resist Using a Custom Email Signature

Including an email signature with photo can feel a little funny at first – no one likes to self promote.

You might think that the person that you are writing to doesn’t really care or already knows about your blog.

But the thing is – you don’t really know what they are thinking.

Maybe they want to start a blog of their own or they know someone that needs the information that you offer.

So, if you add your signature in a way that seems like a standard format for your emails then it will start to feel natural – and I don’t think your recipients will resent it. Of course, you should always use your best judgment.

While you might be ok with the signature part – the photo part might be a little harder for you.

However, that photo is what makes you relatable.

Don’t Set It and Forget It

Be sure to revisit and revise your custom email signature from time to time.

The information can become outdated or may not accurately reflect your business as it evolves.

A Custom Email Signature is a Powerful Marketing Tool For Your Blog

That empty space at the end of your email can be used to communicate a ton of useful information about your blog and your business.

Use it wisely.

Happy blogging!
