That is quite a line up, don’t you think?
The Instant Pot DUO Plus 6 Quart is all new for 2017 and has a few more features than it’s previous version – the Instant Pot DUO60.
New Features in the Instant Pot DUO Plus 6 Quart
Namely, there are 3 new cooking programs:
- Egg, and
Yes, the bright blue display is all new with new status icons across the top, as well.
There is a lid holder in one of the handles – which actually seems pretty convenient.
But I think it is the new cooking programs that give the Instant Pot DUO Plus 6 Quart an edge over the older version.
Right now the difference in cost is about $20 and if I were to buy it again – I would definitely go with the latest and the greatest.
The only downside that I see to the new model is that it doesn’t yet come in an 8 Quart size.
If you want 8 quarts then your choice is the Instant Pot DUO80 8 Quart 7-in-1 model.
Personally, even with our family of 6 – I have found the 6 quart size to be more than enough. I like the 6 quart size because I think it is the more popular size and most Instant Pot recipes that I see are designed for the 6 quart Instant Pot.

Instant Pot Recipes
I use my Instant Pot all the time.
It is great for making recipes like:
- Steel Cut Oats in the Instant Pot
- Poached Pears in Red Wine
- Simple steamed beets
- Beef Stew in the Slow Cooker
- Instant Pot Yogurt
I even use the Instant Pot to make yogurt almost weekly.
My family loves Instant Pot yogurt and I always use it to make these Strawberry Yogurt popsicles which are a huge hit in our house.
Should You Upgrade?
But if you like to have the latest kitchen gadgets, like me, then you are probably quite tempted. 😉
To throw in another curveball, there is a new “baby” Instant Pot on the market as well. It’s the Instant Pot DUO mini 3 Quart 7-in-1 – and it is super cute!
