Mules for Fall – Which Shoes Do You Like Best?

I spent the better part of this morning shopping online for shoes.
When it comes to fall styles, I usually gravitate towards mules. Usually they meet most of my criteria:
- easy to slip on and off
- comfortable
- stylish (though beauty is in the eye of the beholder)
- look good with socks (I don’t want cold feet)
- good grip sole
Because comfort is a big priority – the styles I choose are usually not too fancy.
Typically, I wear jeans or leggings. These days I am home more than ever so my wardrobe is super casual.
This is the collection of mules that I whittled down to – and I need a little help deciding on my final choice.

Fall Shoes: Slip On Mules
This is my narrowed down list of favorite mules for fall. I always have a hard time finding comfortable warm shoes that slip on and off easily. Can you help me decide?
The Ugg Lovisa is at the top of my list because I love the way they look. I think you can dress them up or down, and the reviews are good.
However, I am not sure if they would look great with socks - and I am always wearing socks in the fall - unless I am wearing shearling lined Ugg boots, in which case I will go barefoot.
They also seem to be a little pointy in the toe and the heel is slightly higher than what I would call "casual".
But - oh - I love the way they look!
The sensible side of me keeps coming back to the Dansko Berry clog.
It is cute, the reviews say it is comfortable, and generally the style will go with just about anything.
The Dansko Berry definitely meets my casual criteria but I really don't think you can dress it up too much.
Dansko definitely has a solid reputation for quality. Over the past 20 years, I have two pairs of the Dansko Professional shoe and the second pair is finally looking like it needs to be replaced - so they last a long time.
My guess is that I am going to end up with these.
The Ariat Sport Mule is a close third.
The sole looks really comfortable and the heel is nice and low.
I don't think that I would wear the band behind my heel but it is nice to know that there is that option.
The color is nice, reviews are good, and it seems a little less casual looking than the Dansko.
But does it look too sensible? This is a tough one to decide.
The Romika Mokassetta is just too cute.
I love the way this mule looks.
But .... the heel is a little high.
And the back of the shoe is open.
So, that leaves me wondering if it would look good with a sock (and I often wear colorful ankle style athletic socks).
Not sure if it the shoe would tend to slip off either.
I do like this shoe - a lot. It would be perfect for an office setting, just maybe not my occasional trips to the grocery store.
This is where my list of fall slip on shoes starts to get more casual.
The Merrell Juno clog is a fancy sneaker style clog that could be just about perfect.
I really do live in sneakers these days and these are really cute.
They certainly would look great with socks - even the athletic kind.
Comfy looking, non slip, great with jeans and leggings. What is there not to like?
These may be worth a try.
And finally, a super casual and cozy choice - the Birkenstock Buckley Shearling.
Oh yes! Birkenstocks with shearling - how can you go wrong?
I would get these in a heartbeat because they would keep your feet warm with or without socks.
They are perfect for a trip to the store and cute with jeans too.
But dressing them up is not a thing. And you might want to wear a different shoe if the weather was drizzly or the pavement a little slick.
Sooo - do I get these and a pair of something else?
Choices, choices.
Which Shoes Would You Choose?
So, if you had to pick just one pair – which ones would you choose?
- Ugg Lovisa
- Dansko Berry Clog
- Ariat Sport Mule
- Romika Mokassetta 279
- Merrell Juno Clog
- Birkenstock Buckley Shearling
I really think I will end up with the Dansko.
But I would love to go with BOTH the Ugg Lovisa AND the Birkenstock Buckley Shearling – so I have one pair that I can dress up and a super comfy pair that would be like wearing slippers everywhere I go.
