Why is this so amazing? Well, you are combing the blockbuster success of Pat Flynn with the rock solid support of StudioPress and the Genesis platform.
A pretty good combination.
What’s the Big Deal About Genesis for WordPress?
Let me back up a minute.
You know that I am a big fan of the self hosted WordPress platform for all of your blogs.
To make WordPress look good it needs to wear a theme.
Because WordPress is open source – you can find tons of free and paid themes out there. But the thing is – sometimes you get what you pay for.
While the price of a free theme rocks – the developer has no commitment to you, the customer. And if the developer stops supporting the theme, then
- future updates to WordPress could break your site
- an unsupported site can be subject to malicious attacks
On the other hand – a premium theme might cost on the front end, but after you put all the hard work into your site you don’t want it to break down later.
I really am not at all surprised that Pat Flynn chose to partner with these folks.
Who Is Pat Flynn?
Pat Flynn is an awesome blogger/entrepreneur and podcaster – that grew his business from $0 to over $100,000 per month. That’s right – I said per month.
That guy is doing something right.
And it all started with his website.
And now, the theme that his website wore from 2013 to 2016 is now available to the rest of us.
The theme is called Smart Passive Income Pro and is available through StudioPress.
Why Choose the Smart Passive Income WordPress Theme?
Aside from the celebrity appeal and the strong foundation of the Smart Passive Income Theme for WordPress the theme has a lot of great features that you might like.
So, let’s take a peek inside (you can view the demo site here if you would like)
And – hang on – if the colors don’t work with your biz, don’t worry. This theme makes it easy to customize some of the color elements – scroll to the bottom of this post to learn more.
My favorite part of the Smart Passive Income Theme is the homepage.
This is the first thing that you visitors see.
You want the information that is “above the fold” to be as useful as possible.
In the top section of the homepage of the Smart Passive Income theme you can customize a lot of stuff.
- upload a custom logo
- use the Header Right widget to display a custom logo or a call to action like in the demo
- add a custom menu that appears like tabs across the top (being a productivity nut – I love the tabbed interface because it feels so efficient.)
- you then have a widget area where you can display a short, catchy message to draw your reader in. In addition you can add a custom menu to further guide your reader through the site.
The second section features a large hero image with a text overlay. You can describe your business, blog, or download here, and include a call to action button.
The next two sections of the Smart Passive Income Theme are flexible as far as content goes.
The Footer Sections
Finally, the footer sections are very clean and inviting. Again, you can place a call to action as well as other information about your website.
A Word On Colors
The cool thing about the Smart Passive Income WordPress theme is that there is a color customizer built right in.
As far as I can tell – you can easily change the red, blue, and green accent colors with the sliders but NOT the black background.
Keep this in mind when making your decision on whether this theme will work for you.
The Blog Page
I know the appearance of the homepage is important and all – but it really is the front door.
And many people don’t enter your site from the front door at all. They find you via a blog post (think side or back door).
So, here is a screenshot of the blog page in the SPI WordPress theme – to satisfy your curiosity:
Check Out the Demo
If you are thinking of trying on some new WordPress clothes – I do recommend that you explore the demo thoroughly to make sure that it fits your needs.
