As a blogger, myself, I spend a lot of time on social media (probably more than I should).
It’s taken me a long time to figure out where I want to spend my time.

The going advice is to focus on one platform – the one that works best for you.
Which Social Media Platform Is Best?
However, when you are first start a blog, you can’t really tell which one is working best.
You can guess where your ideal reader “hangs out” but until you start seeing real traffic coming to your site from social media, you don’t really know.

For me, given that this site is more of a lifestyle blog, I find that Pinterest is the biggest traffic driver.
Pinterest is both a visual search engine and a social media platform. Remember that.
You can’t ignore either aspect.
There is a lot of advice flying around about what works on Pinterest and what doesn’t.
The bottom line is that I have had the most success if I use the platform authentically – just like any other social media platform.
I share a combination of my own pins and other people’s pins. And I try to pin things that are relevant to the underlying theme of my business.
Believe me, I have taken a lot of Pinterest courses but the one that really clicked for me was the Pinterest Launch Plan by Jennifer Maker.

My second favorite social media platform is Twitter.
It’s easy to update and you can just post what’s on your mind or what you’re eating for lunch. 😉
You don’t need to come up with some deep, in depth post.
However, I personally have found that business and blogging tips do best on the site.
I don’t know if it is because many of my followers are internet marketers themselves or if all of Twitter is not so much geared towards lifestyle type subjects.
I guess what I am saying is that my recipe posts don’t get much traction on Twitter.

LinkedIn is largely known as a social media platform geared towards professionals and job seekers.
