Happy New Year! Here we are in 2025 and I cannot believe it.

I started my first blog back when my oldest was in the fifth grade and now he is in his late 20’s – the time has certainly flown.

Reflecting Back on 2024

For me 2024 has been a tumultuous year. Yep, that is the right word for it – tumultuous. There have been so many extreme emotional ups and downs as well as life changes. I don’t usually go into to much personal stuff on this blog but here are a few things that happened in 2024 that shaped my thinking for 2025:

  • Loss of loved ones – in 2024 (and 2023) I have lost so many members of the “older” generation in my circle of friends and family. And some of these people were not all that much older than me. It really makes you sit back and think – did they accomplish their own life goals and aspirations? What would they have wanted out of life if they could do it again.
  • Moving – in 2024 we moved from our home of several decades to a temporary situation as we wait to move into our more permanent home. Not only that, I also moved my father out of my childhood home to a much smaller living space. I talk a lot about organizing and productivity on this blog and these two moves – within months of each other were a big test of my skills. It has been disruptive to say the least and I have sort of put my life on “hold” – which, looking back, has been a waste of valuable time.
  • Family relationships – towards the end of 2024 a precious family relationship that I thought was unbreakable has – broken . My heart is hurting and I have spent the last few months trying to heal. The negative emotions are strong – guilt, a sense of failure and worthlessness, and anger. But I am so fortunate to have supportive friends and family around me to lift me up and remind me of all the good that I have done and that I bring to the table. It does take two to tango and if my family member doesn’t want to dance, there is not much more I can do.

Looking at 2025 Goals

So, you can see that 2024 has given me a lot of food for thought for 2025.

There is one word that keeps coming to mind as I thing of my goals and that is: IMPACT.

If there is one thing that I realize it is that life is short. We don’t have all the time in the world to do everything, be everything, or do things perfectly.

The important thing is to make a positive impact on your own life as well as the lives of others. To that end, I am breaking down my own goals into personal and business.

Personal Goals

It is far too easy to overlook our personal goals when we are so used to putting other people’s needs in front of our own. But at the end of the day everyone is busy and the only one that is going to look out for yourself is you. So by maintaining a happier and healthier YOU, you are indirectly benefiting those you love the most.

Health

My dad always said that good health is the most important thing in life. When you are healthy you have the time and the energy to do everything else. And it’s true.

So, in 2025 my number one goal is to improve physical and emotional health and create habits for a healthy lifestyle.

This includes regular exercise, cooking and eating well, meditation, and creating routines for getting more sleep, reading more, and setting boundaries around work and chore time.

It also includes setting and sticking to budgets to eliminate financial stress and incorporating funds for fun things like travel.

Another thing that brings me a lot of joy is catching up with family and friends. But I find that if I don’t prioritize it, it doesn’t happen. In 2025 I plan to set aside time on a regular basis to connect with people that I love by sending off a text, making a call, or even meeting in person. I am happy to say that I have already set up a girls weekend with my college roommate from so many years ago and hope to make connecting with friends like this a regular occurrence.

Business Goals

Helping people with organization and productivity has been my passion for many years now. But I have found that blogging about it on this website to be somewhat limiting.

There is so much that I want to share and talk about that doesn’t necessarily fit into those buckets.

Sometimes I want to share things like:

  • technology tips to make life easier
  • fabulous home decor or Amazon finds
  • tools that I use on this blog
  • my thoughts on the happenings of the day
  • simple recipes that we enjoy

In the past, I have stopped myself from writing about things that are unrelated to organizing. And what happened was that because of this, I would stop writing altogether. This really did not help me further my business goals.

So, for 2025 you will be seeing some changes on this site and in my business overall.

I will be posting more often and the content will be of a more personal nature. I hope you will subscribe, follow along, and provide feedback on the things you like and the things you don’t.

This blog has always been a creative outlet for me and I hope that you will join me for the journey.

My email newsletter is also going to change. I have never been great at providing new content via email. I honestly don’t enjoy it. So most of my new content will be right here on the blog for you to read – and I will push out a summary of the new content once a week via email. Easy.

What Are Your Goals for 2025?

Remember, 2025 is the year of IMPACT and that includes doing the things that make you happy too.

If you had to summarize your 2025 goals in one word – what would it be? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
