The Goodreads Best Books of 2023 list is out! If you are putting together your list of what you want to read in 2024 – you might want to check out some of these winners of the Goodreads Choice awards.
Having a reading list at the ready is key if I want to keep my New Years Resolution of reading more in 2024.
How I Am Keeping My Reading Organized
To facilitate my reading habit and keep myself organized, I’ve done a few things.
First, even though I have had an account forever – I have started using Goodreads to manage my book lists of what I want to read and what I’ve already read. (If are also on the platform you can follow my profile here.)
Second, I subscribed to Kindle Unlimited so that I always have a collection of good books at my fingertips.
And third, I bought 2 Kindles (a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and a Kindle Scribe) during Black Friday. These replaced my ancient Kindle Voyage that completely died at the beginning of our last vacation – the worst timing, right?
How the Goodreads Best Books List Can Help You
If you like to read, you know that it is a huge time commitment. You don’t want to spend hours reading a book only to be disappointed by the ending.
To keep that from happening, most of us read reviews or rely on book recommendations from friends and family to choose what books we want to read.
This is why I love the annual Goodreads Choice Awards and the resulting Best Books List.
Towards the end of the year, readers like you and me, get to vote on nominations in different genres. Goodreads tallies the votes and publishes the resulting list.
So, basically it is a fairly reliable list of popular books.
Of course, I still read the reviews of each one to see if the book is something that I am interested in. But it is a great starting point for discovering new reads.
The Winners of the 2023 Goodreads Choice Awards
So, without further ado, the following books have won the 2023 Goodreads Choice Awards.
Why You Should Organize Your Reading
These Goodreads Best of Lists are like candy to any bookworm. You find so many titles that you want to read.
But if you don’t write them down they will “go in one ear and out the other” – meaning that you will forget all about them.
Before I started using Goodreads to manage my book lists, I used to jot these recommendations down all over the place – in my planner, on scrap paper, in my Reminders app – it was a mess. And when I wanted to read something, either I couldn’t find my lists or I would be confused as to whether I already read the book or if it was something that I still wanted to read.
So, this year, I cleaned up my Goodreads profile and actively manage my reading and the books on my “Want to Read” list.
And I love seeing my progress – below is a screenshot of all the books that I read (and a few that I re-read) in 2023:
