Who knew that shopping for a mattress online could be so tough?

I’ve been putting off getting a new mattress for quite some time now.

Our old one is probably 10 years old or more – and it was time.

Every morning I’d wake up a little bit stiff and achy but the chore of picking out something new seemed like a huge task that I did not want to do.

Once upon a time, I would go to the mattress store in town, try out a few models and we were done.

But now, there are so MANY choices of “bed in a box” mattresses online, that I really didn’t know where to start.

If you are in the market for a new mattress, I’ll tell you what I picked and why – and give you a big list of online mattress choices where you can poke around to find something that will work for you.

The Mattress That I Chose

Ultimately, I ended up ordering the king size Layla Sleep Hybrid mattress.

I also ordered the bed frame and mattress foundation to go with.

The mattress came with some bonuses:

I decided on this particular mattress because it:

combined memory foam with traditional coils
is “flippable” with one side being a soft side and the other being more firm, and

Honestly, the answer depends on what you are looking for and the decision isn’t easy.

Each company makes a range of mattresses – from all foam to hybrid models.

Some mattresses are organic, some are designed for athletes, and others stand out for their affordability.

When making a big purchase like this, what I look for first is always good customer service.

If the company is responsive and the representatives are helpful then that gives me confidence that any concerns I have with my order will be addressed.

Along those lines, it is nice to find an online mattress company that offers a generous trial period and free returns – since you are buying the bed sight unseen.

Finally, read the reviews and ask around for recommendations from friends and family who may have also purchased a mattress online.
